Title

Vitrectomy for removal of dislocated nucleus

Abstracts

In this video we describe one approach to remove a hard nucleus dislocated to the vitreous cavity after complicated cataract surgery.
Instead of using the vitrectomy system´s fragmatome, this technique uses perfluorocarbon liquid to levitate the nucleus to the pupilary plane, and it is removed using the phaco probe via anterior chamber. This technique is indicated in hard cataract cases, and allows the removal of the nucleus without breaking them into several fragments.
