VITRECTOMY FOR GIANT RETINAL TEAR DETACHMENT

Abstracts

A 40 year old male patient presented in the ophthalmology emergency department complaining of acute visual loss of the right eye 7 days ago. Visual acuity(VA) was hand motion in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. At fundoscopy, a giant retinal tear detachment could be observed in the right eye. Phaco Vitrectomy was performed in the right eye. Its a challenging surgery due to the risks of intra and postoperative complications. 6 months after surgery, retina was attached and VA was 20/200.
