Functional and anatomical results after posterior vitrectomy in a case of severe vitreopapillary traction

Abstracts

Vitreopapillary traction (VPT) is uncommon condition characterized by strong adhesion and traction of the posterior hyaloid on to the optic disc and peripapillary retina leading to optic disc elevation and visual loss. Our purpose is to describe a case of an 80-years-old man presented with a 6-months history of slowly progressive visual loss in the left eye (OS) and was found to have optic disc edema. A 25-gauge posterior vitrectomy was performed resulting in anatomic and visual improvement.
