Retinal Artery Suture
Here we describe a new surgical technique for the removal of retinal hemangioblastomas in patients with Von Hippel Lindau Disease. We initially perform phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implant, and posterior vitrectomy. After inserting a needle through the sclera, we suture the feeder vessel of the hemangioblastoma, using a 10.0 nylon and two 23 gauge forceps, with a bimanual technique. Without perfusion, it is possible to ressect the hemangioblastoma with no bleeding.
